A Fine Light Meal...
Celeb-chef Paul Bocuse with a coveted three Michelin-star rating for one of his restaurants in Lyon, is one of the world's most respected chef at the ripe old age of 83. With a chain of brasseries in France also under his belt, this over-achiever sets forth to create a similar concept here in Tokyo. Visits to two of his brasseries had proven to be pleasant surprises as expectations from famed chefs like Joel Robuchon and Alain Ducasse have often come to naught.
At 3,780 JPY or S$60, the prix fixe dinner at Brasserie Paul Bocuse is the real deal. For starter, I had the pumpkin soup, a creamy brew with crunchy crouton bits while sea bass was my choice for the main. The fish was cooked plainly to emphasize its freshness and the Bouillabaisse-like broth brought out the natural taste of the fish. For dessert, the crème brulée with its caramelized sugar crust was the absolute classic finale to a fine light meal.
With such promising encounters at the brasseries, I sure hope that I will not be in for a disappointment should my next venture take me to the one star Maison Paul Bocuse in Daikanyama:)
