Top Of The World At China Blue...
At the helm of this elegant Chinese restaurant located in the upscale Conrad Hotel is Chef Albert Tse, famed for his nouvelle take on traditional Cantonese cuisine. Paving the way into China Blue's commodious interior is a long corridor which opens up to a dining hall with magnificent floor to ceiling windows offering a breath taking view of the skyscrapers of Shiodome and the Hama Rikyu Garden. Blue lanterns hanging from the sky-high ceiling cast the room in a soft, warm glow and on one end, there is a towering 8 metres high wine cellar that is sure to impress even the most discerning wine lovers!
As for the cuisine, my other half and moi had the most conflicting opinions. We had ordered prawns, cod and some vegetables and to me, the only notable dish was the cod. As far as my memory permits, the vegetables were bitter and the noodle dish was mediocre. However, my other half just adored the place! But then again, he is a sucker for ambience...heehee...
On hindsight, I might give it another attempt since Chef Albert had honed his skills in Singapore for many years prior to his Tokyo posting;) He was last seen plying his skills at the Jiang Nan Chun of the Four Seasons Hotel Singapore. Call me biased, but based on this little tidbit, my trip back looks inevitable...
