Never one for sweet tasting meats, Imahan's Sukiyaki had me doing a 360 degree mind-change. The main branch in Ningyocho has a traditional Japanese setting with individual tatami rooms where you can be as boisterous as you like;)
The menu comprised of the perennial Japanese favourites of Sukiyaki, Shabu-Shabu and Teppanyaki, all served with velvety cuts of Wagyu. We opted for the Sukiyaki with its sweet aromatic combination of soya sauce, sugar and mirin. The meat was cooked to perfection at our table by a kimono clad waitress and she was continuously filling our bowls with freshly broiled meats and vegetables, thus enabling us to gorge to our hearts' content! The well-marbled beef, dipped in raw beaten egg, makes it hard to resist multiple helpings with its sweet, juicy tenderness. For those who feel queasy with the raw egg dip, rest assured that even without, the meat tasted just as excellent.
With numerous branches situated conveniently around Tokyo, a visit to Imahan is definitely an affirmative and resounding Yes!
