A French Kiss For Terroir...

The Menu Rouge

Amongst the nooks and crannies of Tokyo's maddening alleys, we managed to unearth a treasure in the form of Terroir, a contemporary French restaurant with subtle Japanese influences. Our initial visit left us speechless as we were astounded to find the dinner set menus below the 5,000 JPY mark, which I can assure you is rarer than finding a four-leaf clover!

With no views to boot, except for a car rental kiosk, Terroir lets its food do the talking instead. There are two options, menu Blanc which comprises of an appetiser, main, dessert and coffee or for something more substantial, the menu Rouge with an additional pasta course. With the exceptions of perennial favourites like Foie Gras and Wagyu steak setting up permanent residences, the menu varies monthly with the incorporation of seasonal ingredients. Be forewarned though, the house residents are much sought-after delicacies and understandably, come with an extra charge.

Some of the most titillating dishes which we had sampled at Terroir includes an appetiser of Sakura shrimps, pasta dishes of Porcini mushroom Linguine, stewed beef Tagliatelle in red wine sauce and mains of game featuring guinea fowl, Cornish hen, pheasant and quail.

Come 1st April, there seems to be a hint of a price hike on their website. So, if you would like to save some gold and yet not compromise on your lifestyle, Terroir is it.
