Haute Kaiseki At Hinokizaka...

Courses from our Kaiseki lunch

Following my recent blog posts regarding all-you-can-drink Happy Hour in Tokyo, I must first clarify that I do enjoy champagne but due to budget constraints (*scowls*) certainly not on a daily or even weekly basis lest you start thinking that I have a drinking problem. Champagne is a celebratory beverage and with the current economic gloom, we do require the effervescence to keep us sane! Bearing that in mind, we ventured out for our weekend lunch at the Hinokizaka in ritzy Ritz Carlton which came with the obligatory free flow of rose bubbly. Cheers!!!

As with most deluxe hotel restaurants here, Hinokizaka is located on the 45th floor of the plush Ritz-Carlton Tokyo and offers an unobstructed view of Tokyo's skyscrapers.

The food was delicately and exquisitely prepared with the Kaiseki experience beautifully orchestrated at every stage. The advantage of Kaiseki is that with its multi-course concept, one cannot really pinpoint a particular dish and render it good or bad as it is all about a harmonious synchronization of the senses.

Anyhow, we had a most enjoyable afternoon, albeit in a half-drunken stupor;) *Hic-hic...*
