Soul Of Korea...
Fans of the Korean hit drama "Jewel In The Palace" will doubtlessly appreciate the time and effort that goes into the preparation of Korean food. With such elaborate show of attention to details, what ensued is a cuisine that has taken the world by storm with its intense and intricate flavours.
Whenever we are in the mood for some home-cooked comfort food, we will always head down to this quaint Korean joint in Shin-Okubo, the little Korean town of Tokyo.Forget about Sundubu or Bibimbap, the most delicious dish in Korean kitchen is Jjimdak, a motley of chicken, potatoes, leeks, carrots and glass noodles braised in a thick syrupy broth ladened with sugar, garlic, chilli peppers and soya sauce. The resulting end product is a full-flavoured stew so rich in taste and texture that exhibits what the soul of Korea is all about. Kudos to my other half for indulging me by agreeing to up the spice level. I must say that the dude created quite a stir as the servers stared in disbelief at this "Ang Moh" lapping up their stew in all its tongue-burning glory;)
Though Jjimdak is not your orthodox Korean dish, I can assure you that with one bite, your taste in Korean food will forever be sealed.
