A Steamy Tête-à-Tête...

Thanks to the presence of a copious number of volcanoes, this island country is just crawling with onsens or hot springs. Touting countless health benefits, onsen is Nippon's answer to a spa. And Hakone home to the most famous of volcanoes, the Mount Fuji, is regarded as one of the best known area for a good soak. If you find onsen etiquette baffling and undressing in public unsettling, Rakuyujyurin Shizenkan is one of the rare few which offers tête-à-tête baths. Not particularly accessible with public transport, Rakuyujyurin Shizenkan is our solace for the frigid wintry season. Perched on a steep slope of a valley, this paragon of an onsen is surrounded by a bountiful of lush vegetation that holds promises of relaxation as your mind drifts away to a blissful nothingness. And if 50 minutes are not sufficient to soothe your overworked limbs and body, you are more than welcome to continue at its public rotenburo.

Charges are based on a per 50 minutes block for the two highly courted private baths and they only take reservations on the same day. Following the scheduled opening time of 10am, the slots are usually filled up at an alarming speed so have your fastest finger out...
