An insider tip enabled me to seek out this Japanese restaurant which is just a stone throw away from my apartment. From the pebbled stone walkway to the soothing little man-made streams, the interior is done up in true Japanese style, with elements of water and wood featuring strongly. One could scarcely have guessed that such a sanctuary exists amidst the hustle and bustle of downtown Yurakucho.
Here, you can luxuriate in the tranquil setting of Kanikosen while tackling these yummy crustaceans. Be it fried, gratin or grilled, the natural sweetness of the crab is enhanced through the simple style of cooking. Reasonably priced at 2,800JPY, the lunch bento also includes salad, soup, chawanmushi and dessert. In comparison, the going rate for dinner is a steep 15,000JPY and upwards. Even though one does get more premium servings of these hardshelled crustaceans at dusk, go easy on the purse strings and book your slot for lunch soon...afterall, prudence is a virtue;)
