A Food Paradise...

Homesick? Me? Nay...

The sheer number of Singapore restaurants present here in Tokyo is enough to make a patriot's heart swell with pride. Char Keow Teow, Laksa, Hainanese Chicken Rice and Roti Prata..not only are they names that I can easily rattle off in my sleep, I can now sink my teeth into them as well;-)

Hainan Jeefan Shokudo in Azabu Juban is unrivalled for its Hainanese Chicken Rice. The fragrant rice and the kick-ass chilli are the bona fide fare. The Laksa and Roti Prata are also excellent and come pretty close to the authentic hawker fare. I would however, recommend giving the Char Keow Teow a miss as it lacks the smoky, robust flavours of its counterpart back home.

As for the rest of the Singapore joints, it is a case of "why go for second best when you have tried the best".

Thanks to my best-est friend cum "Batchgal", I am never without my supply of Prima packs of Char Keow Teow, Chilli Crab & Laksa;-)

To digress, Prima packs are a good source of DIY authentic Singapore food. Not only are they foolproof, their tastes are indisputably one of the best, posing a menace to even some of Singapore's local hawkers. So if I can cook, so can you...
