The Apex At Sushi Kanesaka...

I had the good fortune of being appointed by a visiting friend as the "organiser" for a business dinner and I jumped at the chance to suss out Sushi Kanesaka. Planted in the basement of an obscure building in Ginza, Sushi Kanesaka is for gourmands who yearn for a taste of the finest in sushi. Only three menus are available with the minimum pricing set at 20,000JPY or S$300 per head.

Sea urchin, abalone and different cuts of fatty tuna are the apex at Sushi Kanesaka

The chef handpicks daily the finest from nearby Tsukiji market and the menu is based solely on that. The age-old tradition of sushi making is strictly adhered here as we watched the chef churned out pieces of the most decadent delicacies, from sea urchin to abalone to fatty tuna. As we sank our teeth into the invitingly soft slabs of plump fatty tuna, I am amazed at the flavours and textures that are condensed within these tiny morsels. I daresay they must surely be the basis for the global prevalence of sushi!

Despite the hefty figure tagged to the menu, dinner was a relatively brisk affair with only a selection of about 12 pieces of top-notch sushi and sashimi. But they are the crème de la crème, the apex, the nonpareil...So if you are not one to balk at paying a princely sum for the finest, beat a path down to Sushi Kanesaka.
