For hearty, unpretentious food, there is nothing like a good burger. Hyped up by my other half and his group of equally fanatic burger-buddies as the ultimate burger, I decided to sample the "Perfect Burger" (it's really the name of the burger!) at Trader Vic's myself.
To me, a good burger must satisfy a couple of elemental prerequisites and here at Trader Vic's, the generously sized Wagyu beef patty piled high with trimmings of crisp lettuce, chunky tomato slice, crackling bacon strips and oodles of oozing cheese certainly passed the scrutiny with flying colours. The one tiny quibble which I have is that the sauce lacked a punch to it.
Although the "Perfect Burger" is one gourmet masterpiece, it still paled in comparison to two experiences which are still vivid in my mind. The first was the burger served at a van cum burger kiosk in Auckland. Only available late in the evening, this was one helluva burger slathered in a piquant, homemade relish sauce. The other was at the Burger King in Hong Kong airport. The tangy sauce from the Whopper was just dribbling down my fingers and gosh, it was finger lickin' good!!!
