Pat-a-Cake, Pat-a-Cake, Baker's Man...

When it comes to their cakes, the Japanese are one helluva passionate lot. Not only do these towering hand made slices at Harbs look glorious, they taste magnifique too!

The mille crepe cake is Harb's claim to fame here in Tokyo. It has a super light consistency and has none of that cloying sweetness which is sure to give you that hyper action accompanying a sudden sugar rush. The inclusion of fresh fruits between the creamed layers further enhanced its irresistibility to all who are in possession of a sweet tooth.

My choice though is this seasonal strawberry cake. The slices come stacked in a pyramid of fresh, blood red strawberries that are as sweet as wild golden honey. Sigh...how I long to have a whole cake to myself...
